The shallow bowl, with slightly flaring rim, exquisitely painted in bright shades of underglaze cobalt blue with a scene of two officials and their attendants at a lakeside below the boughs of a gnarled tree, rocky outcrops in the distance, rockwork in the foreground, the two officials sit facing each other around a games board, one holding a wine cup outstretched, one attendant bearing a flask, the other seated beside a kettle, with a box and two urns nearby, painted to the exterior with further landscape decoration, with pavilions, mountains, and lakes, the glazed base with the four-character mark 'huan gu zhai zhi' (還古齋製), 'hall of returning of antiquities', within a double circle in underglaze blue.
