Of beaker form. Decorated in famille rose enamels and gilding; each side with a coat of arms within an elaborate cartouche surmounted by an ecclesiastical hat with knotted tassels suspended on both sides, hung with a floral garland; the rim and foot with bands of detailed floral scrollwork and single gold lines.

The arms are of modern Portugal and of Lisbon in two shields emblem of the Resident Canons of the Royal Monastary of Sao Vicente de Fora in Lisbon, which was founded by the 1st King of Portugal, Alfonso Henriques, in 1147. See David Howard Armorial Porcelain pl.379 for an almost identical vase, dated 1790. Here it is mentioned that the six tassels from the hat are the mark of a bishop.
