The bowl and stand, painted after a European engraving by Frederich Bloemart (d.1669), shows Neptune triumphant with trident aloft borne on a pair of dolphins and accompanied by his familiars ‑ tritons and nymphs. The cover decorated with three peony sprays. All three pieces have continuous borders of single cell diaper.

The original for this design is the baroque drawing by Abraham Bloemart (1564‑1651) which was later engraved by his son Frederick (d.1699).
