Of ovoid form, the deep sides rising from a short straight foot, decorated in shades of underglaze blue, the body painted on both sides with a scene of two peacocks in a terraced garden, among rockwork and towering peony blooms, a flock of birds in 'V' formation fly overhead, while in the distance there is a small building by the rocky shore of a lake, all set under a spiral-work pattern around the rim, with shaped mask head handles on either side; the cover decorated around the rim with flowers issuing from a band of diaper-pattern, the pierced finial set atop a high raised dome, decorated with a band of triangle-work and peony flower heads; the base unglazed.

The form of this tureen is based on a Meissen original. There is an example with the distinctive 'mask handles' from the collection of Franz and Margarete Oppenheimer, in the Rijksmusem, Amsterdam, museum number BK-17441-A.
