Of globular form with an angular spout, the high ‘C’ shaped handle with raised flowers on either end, the short cover with a round finial; freely painted in the kakiemon style, with a red fence and abundant floral sprays in vibrant red and gold, with leaves in shades of yellow, green and turquoise, the cover similarly decorated; the mouth-rim, handle and spout are all decorated with a stylised ruyi-head pattern; the base glazed.

There is a later Meissen teapot made in the style of our Japanese one with the characteristic raised flowers on either side of the handle, decorated in the Kakiemon style, and attributed 1730, in the Groninger Museum (museum number 2015.0232).
