Of round forms with ribbed sides in the shape of chrysanthemums, each decorated with a central roundel of a small boy dressed in a black, famille noir vest with a green pattern, short trousers with yellow cloud-motifs and gilt bands around his wrists and ankles, the boy holds on to a large flowering peony branch surrounding him, the flower-heads painted in shades of iron-red and the scrolling branches in gilt, six fan-shaped panels radiates from the centres, two decorated with fearsome kylins in landscapes, one with a small flowering tree issuing from the ground next to foaming waves and below small birds in the sky, another with a similar small flowering shrub, bamboo and pine and with small birds in the sky, the last two with small landscapes bordering on water, one with a figure riding on a donkey, the other with a figure navigating a low boat, all panels painted in soft famille verte enamels and reserved on light-red grounds embellished with gilt flower-scrolls, the scalloped rims highlighted in gold, the bases glazed.

A similar boy holding a large surrounding peony branch, but only wearing a loincloth and bands around his ankles and wrists can be seen in the centre of a Kangxi blue and white dish in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection, reference C.722-1910, part of the Salting Bequest.
